Wounds, blood and gore - Cuts & bullet wounds

Bullet wound
Most of the procedures carrying out the above gore make-up, all begin with assessing exactly what you are trying to achieve.  It is extremely important to study secondary evidence i.e. photo's, or even better still first hand evidence i.e. an actual wound.  To achieve the exact look of the wound you are trying to create you must follow as closely to the evidence as possible.  One of the crucial points is to know exactly when the wound would have been made this will completely alter the look, colour, swelling, blood etc.  It all comes together to make the wound look as life-like as possible.

Below I have listed a few products that can be used to achieve wounds, scars, cuts etc.  I have also uploaded some trials that I practiced myself to achieve certain looks :

Gelglyk;

  • Put in a plastic bowl of cold water
  • Put the bowl in the microwave for 1 min, check after 30 secs
  • When its just a little melted, it's great for moulding into scars
  • Needs to be runny to make burns
  • Dry with a cool hairdryer
  • Can be used for blisters
  • Add bruise palette and wound filler to shade and add dimensions
Moulding wax;

  • Great for scars, mould onto the skin first to soften the product
  • Apply the sealer
  • Let it dry
  • Apply bruise palette and wound filler to shade and add dimensions
Tuplast;

  • Scars - (Great for olsd scarring)
